Description: Early Music and Dance, from the Middle East to France, 9th-19th centuries: With guests Alpharabius and a guest period dancer, Melos shows the rich music and dance traditions of the Mediterranean. Hear the Qanun and other rarely heard Arabic instruments, as Melos and Alpharabius present readings and contrasting music and dances from classical Egypt and Baroque France, including traditional Middle Eastern belly dance, Baroque dance, Rameau's "Les Indes Galantes", traditional Arabic folk tunes, and Eastern and Western chants.
